Eighth Generation

144. John STROUD88 was born about 1674 in Virginia or England. He died about 1737 in Prince George County, Virginia. He was a Planter.
John Stroud is the earliest confirmed Stroud in our line.

John Stroud paid quintrents on 60 acres of land in Prince George County, Virginia, in 1704. In June 1711 he sold various items to William Byrd. This document was witnessed by his son, Joseph; both of them signed with an X. On the same day he also sold William Byrd the 50 acres of land upon which he lived for 36 pounds with the stipulation that if the money was paid back by October 1713, the deed would be void. This was witnessed by his son Joshua, who signed with an X..

He died about 1737 leaving a will which has been lost; Hannah Stroud administered his estate (she signed with an X). The destruction of the Prince George County records by both the British and the Union Army makes further information difficult to locate. However, later deeds record his sons John and William selling their halves of the land they inherited from their father on Sturgeon Run (now Creek).

John STROUD and Hannah were married before 1692.

145. Hannah was born about 1676. She died about 1739 in Prince George County, Virginia.
Last name may be Rose. Hannah was executor of John's will.
