Tenth Generation

828. Caleb BALL Sr295 was born about 1665 in Branford, New Haven County, Connecticut. He died about 1716 in Millbrook, Essex County, New Jersey. He signed a will on 25 Jul 1748. He was a yeoman.
If you see the land, Caleb's presence in Hanover makes sense. They moved out from Newark quite a few years after 1666. Records have Caleb getting property from Edward in 1705 and it was in Cranetown near the Crane property. The good land and the iron was over the Watchung Mountains. The book "Along the Whippanong" says Caleb arrived in 1710 and set up along what later was called Forge Pond and went into the iron business and had a forge and saw mill.

He was Clerk of Courts 22 Jan 1692 & High Sheriff of Essex Co., 04 Nov 1693.
He was appointed Collector and Freeholder by the County Court for Hanover Twp.
Probably lived with his sons, Caleb and John, at Millbrook at his death.
