Iron Skillet Apple Pie

This is a very, very old recipe that belonged to my grandmother, Alexa Sevilla "Lexie" Evans Garrett.

Ingredients:

Pie:
1 c. sugar
4 T. butter
4 or 5 apples

Topping:
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar

Enough mild cheddar cheese to cover pie.
1 c. milk

Directions:
  1. Heat iron skillet to medium hot to put butter and sugar in (leave on medium heat until you put apples in).

  2. Peel and core apples then slice fairly thin. Layer apple slices over top of butter and sugar. Do not stir!

  3. Mix topping ingredients and then sprinkle over top. Then cover with enough mild cheddar cheese to cover pie.

  4. Pour 1 c. milk over top of all

  5. Put iron skillet into 350 degree oven until top is brown and apples are tender
